Free demo

Free AI music generator

Type a short description of the music you want and a free, open-source model hosted on Hugging Face Spaces turns it into a clip, with no AI Song Generator account needed. The demo is run by a third party, has shared daily limits, and is separate from the paid AI Song Generator Studio.

Free third-party demo · runs on Hugging Face (ace-step-ace-step-v1-5.hf.space)

ACE-Step 1.5 by ACE Studio and StepFun, MIT License.

Open it on Hugging Face (opens in a new tab)

The demo can take up to a minute to start. Hugging Face gives every visitor a small amount of free GPU time per day, so a run can fail when that is used up or the Space is busy. Open it on Hugging Face (opens in a new tab)

Third-party, open-model demo

This free demo is hosted on Hugging Face Spaces and runs an open model. It is not part of the AI Song Generator Studio, it does not use Studio credits, and its usage limits are set by Hugging Face.

Steps

How to use it

  1. Load the demo

Press Try free demo. Nothing from the third-party Space loads until you click, so the page stays fast and nothing you type leaves your browser before you choose to use the demo.

  2. Describe the music

Write one or two sentences covering genre, mood, the main instruments and a tempo feel. Concrete words like 'brushed snare' or 'detuned synth pad' work better than adjectives like 'epic'.

  3. Keep the first clip short

Ask for 30 to 60 seconds on your first try. Short requests use less of the shared GPU allowance and are less likely to time out.

  4. Generate and wait your turn

Requests join a public queue. If the demo reports a quota or queue error, wait and try again later; that limit is set by Hugging Face, not by us.

  5. Listen, then check the license

Play the result inside the demo. If you download it, read the model's license on its Hugging Face page before you use the audio anywhere public.

What the free demo does

The demo on this page is an open-source text-to-music model running on Hugging Face Spaces. A third party built it and hosts it; we embed it so you can try AI music generation without paying or signing up. The specific Space we embed is under license review and may change, which is why this page describes the model in general terms rather than by name.

Open models of this kind can produce instrumentals and, in some cases, sung vocals from a text prompt. Results vary a lot between runs, so treat the first output as a sketch. If you like the direction, change one detail at a time (tempo, lead instrument, mood) instead of rewriting the whole prompt.

Limits to know before you start

Free demos on shared hardware come with trade-offs. None of them are hidden; they come from how public Hugging Face Spaces work.

  • Shared GPU quota: Hugging Face gives visitors who are not signed in to Hugging Face a small daily allowance of GPU time, and one long generation can use most of it. People on the same office or mobile network may share that allowance.
  • Queues: free requests run at low priority. At busy times you may wait several minutes or be asked to try again later.
  • Sleeping Spaces: a Space that nobody has used for a while goes to sleep and needs time to wake up, so the first load can be slow or fail.
  • Short clips: long durations are the most likely to hit the quota, so the demo works best for previews rather than full-length tracks.
  • Third-party changes: the Space owner can change the interface, pause it or turn off embedding at any time. When that happens, this page stays online and marks the demo as unavailable.
  • Nothing is saved: results live in the demo session only, so download anything you want to keep before you close the tab.

Prompts that work on small open models

Open models respond best to plain musical vocabulary. Name a genre, add one or two instruments, give a tempo or a feel such as 'laid-back' or 'driving', and describe the setting the music is for. Long strings of adjectives tend to blur together.

If you want vocals, say so and keep the theme simple. If you don't, end the prompt with 'instrumental, no vocals', because some models add wordless singing on their own.

Free demo vs. the paid AI Song Generator Studio

The demo is a good way to hear what AI music sounds like. The AI Song Generator Studio is built for finishing and keeping tracks, and it is paid only: there is no free Studio plan and there are no free Studio credits.

  • Length and control: in Custom mode you set a target length of up to six minutes, write a style description, and add your own lyrics or choose an instrumental.
  • Versions you keep: every result is copied to our storage straight away and stays in your private library, organized in projects with version history.
  • Editing after generation: extend a track, replace a section that went wrong, restyle it as a cover, or add vocals or an instrumental.
  • Production files: split vocals from the accompaniment or into multiple stems, export WAV, and create a visualizer video.
  • Clear terms: commercial-use eligibility depends on your inputs, your plan, the Terms and the law where you use the music. The demo's output is governed by its model license instead.

Which one should you use?

Use the free demo to explore styles, test a prompt idea or make a quick sketch for a personal project. Move to the Studio when you need full-length songs, files you can rely on, edits to one specific part, or a clear set of terms before you publish.

Prompts

Prompts to try

Starting points you can paste into Create and adjust. Specific details — tempo, instruments, mood, structure — give the most control.

  1. Rainy-day lo-fiInstrumental

Lo-fi hip-hop instrumental, dusty electric piano chords, soft kick and rimshot, vinyl crackle, 78 BPM, late evening by a rainy window, no vocals

Specific instruments and a tempo give a small model something concrete to follow.

  2. Summer synth-pop opener

Bright synth-pop with a punchy four-on-the-floor kick, plucky arpeggiated synths, handclaps on two and four, uplifting summer-night mood, 122 BPM

One clear mood plus a rhythm cue usually beats a long list of adjectives.

  3. Folk with a sung chorusAuto lyrics

Acoustic folk song with fingerpicked guitar, upright bass and a warm female vocal singing a simple chorus about walking home after a long shift

Ask for vocals explicitly and keep the theme simple.

  4. Trailer buildInstrumental

Cinematic orchestral build, low string ostinato, taiko hits, rising brass, ends on a big sustained chord, 45 seconds, no vocals

A target length and an ending instruction help a short clip feel finished.

  5. Chiptune level themeInstrumental

8-bit chiptune level theme, square-wave lead melody, fast arpeggios, noise-channel drums, cheerful and bouncy, 140 BPM, loop-friendly

Genres with a strong sound signature tend to come through clearly.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is the AI music generator on this page really free?
Yes. The demo costs nothing and needs no AI Song Generator account. It runs on Hugging Face's shared hardware, so the practical limit is the daily GPU allowance Hugging Face gives visitors, not a price.
Do I need to sign up?
Not for the demo. You only need an AI Song Generator account and a paid plan to use the Studio, which is a separate product.
Can I use the music commercially?
That depends on the license of the open-source model and the terms of the Space that generated it, which differ from model to model. Read the license linked from the demo before publishing anything. We cannot grant rights to output from a third-party demo.
Why does the demo say I have run out of quota or that the queue is full?
Hugging Face limits how much GPU time anonymous visitors get each day and gives them low queue priority. Wait a while, try a shorter clip, or come back later. Embedded demos usually treat you as a signed-out visitor even if you have a Hugging Face account.
Is this the same model the Studio uses?
No. The free demo runs an open-source model on Hugging Face. The Studio runs separate commercial models through our generation provider, and free demos never use or create Studio credits.
How long can a free track be?
The model may allow longer pieces, but long requests are the first to fail on the shared quota, so clips under a minute work best. For full songs, the Studio lets you set a target length of up to six minutes and extend a track after that.
How can I make music for free?
There are three practical routes. Use a free DAW on your computer to program drums, play virtual instruments and record your voice, which takes longer to learn but gives you full control. Try the free AI demo on this page to turn a text description into a short clip. Or combine them: generate an idea here, then rebuild it yourself in the DAW. None of these needs a paid account; the paid AI Song Generator Studio only becomes useful once you want full-length songs, editing and a saved library.
How do I make AI music for free?
Click the demo button on this page, write one or two sentences with a genre, a mood, two or three instruments and a tempo, and ask for 30 to 60 seconds on your first try. Wait for the shared queue, listen, and change one detail at a time if the result is close. Download anything you want to keep, because nothing is saved, and read the model license before you use the clip in public. The demo runs on a third party's Hugging Face Space with daily limits, so you may need to come back later.
What is the best free AI music generator?
There is no single best one, and the free options change often. Free tools fall into two groups: open-source models on public demo hosts, like the one on this page, and limited free tiers of commercial apps, whose daily caps and usage rights differ. Test two or three with the same prompt, decide whether you need vocals or only instrumentals, and read the license before you publish anything. Our guide to the best AI music generators explains a fair way to compare tools without relying on rankings.
