Add AI vocals to an instrumental

Add vocals puts a generated singer on an instrumental you already have. Choose a track from your library or upload one you own, write the lyrics and describe the voice, and AI Song Generator returns versions with a vocal performance on top.

Steps

How it works

  1. Choose the instrumental

Pick a library track or upload one you own, and confirm your rights.

  2. Add lyrics

Write lyrics for each section of the instrumental, with labels.

  3. Describe the vocal

Range, texture and delivery, plus anything to exclude.

  4. Compare and keep

Listen for timing and tone, then keep the best version or split it into stems.

Prepare the instrumental

The singer follows the music, so the music should leave it room:

  • Clear sections help: an intro, then verse and chorus parts the singer can follow
  • Leave space in the mid-range; a busy lead line will fight the vocal
  • Use a finished mix rather than a rough sketch
  • Upload a recording you own, or pick a track from your library

Write lyrics that fit the track

Count the sections in your instrumental and write lyrics for each one, labeled [Verse], [Chorus] and so on. A verse that is twice as long as its musical section will be rushed. Lyrics are optional but recommended: with your own words you control exactly what is sung.

Describe the voice

The vocal style is required. Describe range, texture and delivery, such as "warm alto, relaxed phrasing, light harmonies on the chorus". Use exclude styles for what you do not want, such as "no autotune" or "no screaming", and set a male or female preference if it matters to the song.

What comes back

Each request can return more than one version with a vocal on your instrumental, and each one is saved to your library. Your original instrumental stays unchanged. To use the vocal on its own, split a result into vocal and instrumental stems.

Listen for timing first: a vocal that lands late on the downbeat or rushes the chorus is easier to fix by adjusting the lyric length than by regenerating with the same words.

Add vocals, or generate a new song?

If you do not have an instrumental yet, generate a full song with vocals instead: the arrangement and the singer are created together and fit each other from the start. Add vocals is for when the music already exists and you want to keep it.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can I add vocals to a song I found online?
No. Use instrumentals you made, generated in AI Song Generator, or have permission to use.
Do I have to write lyrics?
Lyrics are optional, but adding your own is the best way to control exactly what is sung.
Will my instrumental change?
Your original stays unchanged in your library. The result is a new recording that includes the vocal, so compare it with the original before using it.
Can I add my own voice?
Not with add vocals: every vocal it places on an instrumental is an original generated voice. On the Studio plan you can create a custom singer voice from a voice you own or are authorized to use, verified with a recorded phrase and the owner's consent, and use it when you generate a new song from your lyrics.
Can I get the vocal only?
Yes. Split the result into vocal and instrumental stems and download the vocal.
What if the vocal sounds rushed or off the beat?
The usual cause is a lyric that is too long for its musical section. Shorten the lines for that part, check that each section of the lyric matches a section of the instrumental, and generate again.
