Steps

How it works

  1. Pick two sources

Two library tracks, two uploads you own, or one of each.

  2. Describe the result

Which source leads, the genre and the mood, plus lyrics if you want new words.

  3. Generate and compare

Listen for the balance between the two sources in each version.

  4. Refine

Adjust the description, extend the best version or export it.

How an AI mashup works

A DJ mashup layers two existing recordings and lines them up by hand. The mashup maker works differently: it takes two sources and generates a new recording that draws on both, in a style you describe. You get a new song with elements of each, not the two originals stacked on top of each other.

Choosing two sources that blend

Some pairs blend more easily than others:

  • Similar tempos or feels tend to blend more naturally
  • One vocal-led source and one instrumental-led source give each a clear role
  • Contrasting moods can work, but describe how they should meet
  • Mix and match freely: two library tracks, two uploads, or one of each

Describing the blend

The style description is required, and it does most of the steering. Say which source should lead, what genre the result should be, and the mood, for example "lead with the vocal energy of the first, keep the groove of the second, upbeat funk-pop". The generator treats this as direction rather than an exact recipe.

You can also add lyrics for the new version, to be sung in the mashup. This is useful when the two sources have unrelated words and you want the result to tell one story.

What to expect

Results vary more than with other tools, because the generator is reconciling two sets of material. Some versions lean heavily on one source. Generate again, or adjust which source leads in the description, until the balance sounds right.

After the mashup

The mashup is saved to your library as a new track, with both sources left untouched. From there it works like any other track: extend it, replace a section that sounds muddled, split it into stems to rebalance the parts, or export WAV for mixing elsewhere.

Rights for both sources

Both sources must be yours: tracks you created in AI Song Generator, or recordings you own or are authorized to use. Uploads ask you to confirm this. Mashing up commercial songs you do not control is not allowed, even as a private experiment.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can I mash up any two songs?
Only tracks you created in AI Song Generator, or recordings you own or are authorized to use. Commercial songs you do not control are not allowed.
Does it beat-match the tracks?
It does not layer the originals at all. It generates a new recording that draws on both, so there is nothing to beat-match.
Can I use more than two tracks?
A mashup combines exactly two sources. To bring in a third idea, mash up the result with another track.
Can I add lyrics?
Yes. Add lyrics to the mashup and they are sung in the new version.
Why does one source dominate?
The generator often leans toward one source. Say which one should lead in the description and generate again.
