Royalty-free AI music: what you can and cannot assume

"Royalty-free" means you do not pay a fee each time music is used. For music you generate with AI Song Generator, whether and how you can use it commercially depends on your inputs, your plan and the Terms, and the law where you publish, so this page explains each of those instead of making a blanket promise.

Steps

How it works

  1. Generate with clean inputs

Use your own lyrics and uploads, and describe styles instead of referencing other artists or songs.

  2. Check your plan and the Terms

Check the Terms for the conditions attached to commercial use, including any passed on from the model providers.

  3. Check the destination

Read the AI policy of the platform, client or distributor you are publishing with, and disclose AI involvement where it is required.

  4. Keep records

Your library keeps prompts, settings and versions; download the files you need for your own archive.

What "royalty-free" actually means

In stock music, royalty-free describes a license: you pay once or subscribe, and you can use a track in your projects without paying per play, per view or per copy. It does not mean the music has no owner, and it does not mean anything goes. Royalty-free licenses still set limits, such as banning resale of the music on its own or its use in a trademark.

Generated music changes who is involved, not the basic questions. You still need to know what you are allowed to do with a track, what you supplied to make it, and which rules apply where you publish it.

What decides how you can use a generated track

Four things decide it, and they apply together rather than one at a time. Read the Terms for your plan before any commercial use, and if something is unclear for your situation, ask a qualified lawyer. Nothing on this page is legal advice.

  • The Terms: they set what AI Song Generator grants you for tracks made on your account. Commercial use is included on every paid plan, subject to any conditions the model providers require us to pass on.
  • Your inputs: lyrics you wrote and recordings you own are different from material you found online. Rights in what you upload stay with whoever holds them, and samples, loops or stems from other sources keep their own licences.
  • The law where you publish: rules on copyright in AI-assisted work differ by country and are still developing.
  • Platform rules: streaming services, video platforms and distributors have their own policies on AI-generated audio.

Uploads, references and covers

When you upload audio to extend, restyle, add vocals to or mash up, AI Song Generator asks you to confirm you own it or have permission to use it. That confirmation matters. Changing the style of a song you do not control does not make the result yours, and a restyled version of a commercial song is not cleared for release just because it was generated.

Reference files in Simple mode, such as images and video clips, should also be yours or licensed to you. Using something as a reference does not transfer any rights in it.

Checks before you publish or monetize

Run through this list before a generated track goes into anything commercial:

  • Read your plan and the Terms for the commercial-use conditions that apply to you.
  • Make sure every lyric, upload and reference you used is yours or licensed to you.
  • Check the platform's or distributor's policy on AI-generated audio, including any disclosure it requires.
  • Be careful with content-identification systems: some distributors restrict registering generated audio, so check before you opt in.
  • Keep your records: the library stores the prompt, settings and version history for each track, which helps if a question comes up later.

What we do not promise

AI Song Generator does not promise that generated music can never resemble existing work, that it is free of every third-party right in every country, or that you will hold a copyright in it. No one can guarantee those outcomes everywhere, and a page that does is making a legal claim it cannot back up.

What we can do is be clear about the rules on our side, keep your work private until you choose to publish it, and run a report and takedown process for public content.

What you get

  • MP3 for every version, WAV on Creator and above
  • Stems for editors on Pro and above
  • Prompt, settings and version history stored with each track

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is AI music royalty-free?
Not automatically. Royalty-free is a licensing term. Whether you can use an AI Song Generator track without per-use fees, and for what, is set by your plan and the Terms, your inputs, and applicable law.
Can I use music I generate in monetized YouTube videos?
Often, depending on your plan and the Terms and on the platform's own rules, some of which ask creators to disclose realistic AI-generated content. Check both before you monetize.
Can I release generated songs on streaming services?
Many creators do, through a distributor. Distributors and services have policies on AI-generated audio, sometimes including disclosure requirements or limits on content identification. Read them, along with your plan and the Terms, before you upload.
Will I own the copyright?
It depends on the country and on your contribution. Human-written lyrics and creative choices may be protected where purely generated audio is not. The AI music copyright guide covers this in more depth.
What if a generated track sounds like an existing song?
Do not publish it. Models create new audio, but resemblance can happen, especially with prompts built around one artist. Generate again with a style description instead of references to specific songs.
Does AI Song Generator have a free plan for commercial music?
No. The Studio is paid only, and the conditions for commercial use depend on your plan and the Terms. See pricing for the current plans.
