Text to music: write the sound you hear in your head

Text to music turns a written description into a finished track. You describe the genre, mood, instruments and pace in plain words, and AI Song Generator generates music that follows them, with or without vocals.

Steps

How it works

  1. Write the idea

One sentence about what the music is for or what it is about.

  2. Write the style

Genre, tempo feel, two to four instruments, and whether you want vocals.

  3. Generate

Pick a model profile, check the credit cost and generate.

  4. Refine the words

Adjust one phrase, regenerate, and keep the version that matches the picture in your head.

Two text fields, two jobs

The idea field holds what the music is for or about: "opening titles of a heist film", "a song about a lost glove". The style field holds how it sounds: "funk, clavinet, tight drums, horn stabs". Keeping them apart lets you reuse a style with new ideas, or run one idea through several styles.

Turning feelings into sound words

Models respond to concrete musical terms far better than to moods. Translate the feeling before you generate:

  • "Happy" becomes major key, bright piano, quick tempo, handclaps.
  • "Tense" becomes low strings, ticking percussion, held notes, no resolution.
  • "Chill" becomes slow tempo, soft drums, warm keys, plenty of space.
  • "Epic" becomes full orchestra, choir, big drums, a long build.
  • "Nostalgic" becomes tape warmth, older drum sounds, a specific decade.

Let Enhance prompt do the first pass

If all you have is a rough sentence, the Enhance prompt button rewrites it into structured descriptors such as genre, tempo feel, instruments and mood. The result is plain text you can edit, not a hidden setting, so delete anything that does not fit before you generate.

Iterating on the words

Change one phrase at a time and regenerate. If the drums are too busy, add "sparse drums" or exclude a drum style; if the track feels empty, name one more instrument. Because a request can return more than one version, compare them all before deciding the text needs work.

In Simple mode the model chooses the length. Switch to Custom mode when you need a set duration between 10 seconds and 6 minutes, exact lyrics, or the advanced sliders.

Text to music or text to song?

Text to music is the general case: instrumentals, soundscapes and songs alike. If you mainly want a sung song with lyrics written from your description, the text to song page walks through that path, and lyrics to song covers singing words you have already written.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is text to music?
It is music generated from a written description. You type what you want to hear, and the model produces a recording that follows the description as closely as it can.
How detailed should my text be?
One idea sentence and a style line of roughly ten to twenty-five words is a good range. Too little leaves everything to chance; a paragraph of adjectives tends to blur together.
Can text to music include vocals?
Yes. Set lyrics to Auto for sung lyrics written from your text, or to Instrumental for music without singing.
Can I convert a poem or a story into music?
Yes. Paste it as the idea for an instrumental inspired by it, or paste it as lyrics in Custom mode to have the words sung.
Is there a text to music app?
AI Song Generator runs in the browser on phones, tablets and computers, so there is nothing to install.
