Guides

AI in music: practical guides

AI now shows up at every stage of making music, from writing and generating songs to splitting stems, checking copyright and spotting AI-made tracks. These guides explain how each part works in practice, including where the tools fall short and what our own product does not do.

How AI is used in music today

Most AI music tools fall into a few groups. Generators turn text, lyrics or reference audio into finished recordings. Assistants help with lyrics, chords and theory. Audio tools separate stems, convert audio to MIDI, clean up noise or master a mix. Detectors try to tell whether a track was generated. Each group raises its own questions about quality, rights and trust, which is why we cover them separately.

The impact on music creation is real but uneven. Generation has made it easy for anyone to hear an idea as a finished-sounding song, while the things that make a release stand out, such as specific lyrics, deliberate arrangement choices, a careful mix and a clear rights position, still depend on human decisions.

Start here

If you are new to AI music, these three guides cover the fundamentals.

  • How to make music with AI: a step-by-step workflow from first prompt to finished track.
  • Music theory and AI: how to learn theory with AI, and how a little theory improves your prompts.
  • Best AI music generators: a buyer's framework for testing tools fairly, without sponsored rankings.

Finishing your tracks

AI Song Generator does not offer AI mixing, mastering or audio enhancement yet. These guides teach the craft and show which Studio tools help, such as stems, WAV export and section replacement.

  • AI music mixing: what AI mixers do, and how to mix an AI-generated song from stems.
  • AI music mastering: loudness, tone and delivery, with or without an AI mastering service.
  • AI audio enhancers: what enhancement can and cannot repair in a recording.

Rights and trust

Rights questions come up as soon as you want to publish, sell or license what you made.

  • AI music copyright: authorship, ownership of outputs, uploads, voices and registration.
  • AI music detectors: how detection works and why results are probabilities, not proof.
  • Commercial use: releasing and monetizing AI-assisted music responsibly.

How we write these guides

Every guide shows the date it was last updated. We write from documentation, testing and our own product experience, and we say so when something is uncertain or changing. We don't name or rank other companies' products unless we have checked the facts on their official sites and dated them. If you spot an error, tell us through the Contact page and we will review it.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How is AI used in music production?
Mostly for generating draft or finished tracks, suggesting lyric ideas, separating stems, converting audio to MIDI and assisting with mixing and mastering. Human choices still shape the final result.
How do you make AI songs?
Describe the song or provide lyrics, choose a style, generate several versions, then edit the best one. Our step-by-step guide covers prompts, lyrics, editing and release.
How can you tell if music is AI generated?
Detectors look for statistical traces of generation, but they produce probabilities and can be wrong in both directions. Our detector guide explains how to read results and what to do if your music is wrongly flagged.
Are these guides legal advice?
No. The copyright and commercial-use guides explain general principles, which vary by country and change over time. Talk to a qualified lawyer about your specific situation.
