AI stem splitter for tracks in your library

The AI Song Generator stem splitter is an AI stem separator for tracks in your library: it splits a song you made into up to 12 instrument stems, such as vocals, drums, bass, guitar and keys. Each stem downloads as an MP3, ready to rebalance, remix or rebuild in your DAW.

Steps

How it works

  1. Open a track

Pick a track or a specific version from your library.

  2. Choose Split stems

Select the multi-stem split and confirm the credit cost.

  3. Wait for the stems

The stems appear on the track's stems tab when they are ready.

  4. Download

Download the stems you need as MP3s and import them into your DAW.

Stems you can get

A multi-stem split looks for these parts in the track:

  • Lead vocals and backing vocals
  • Drums and percussion
  • Bass
  • Guitar
  • Keyboards and synths
  • Strings, brass and woodwinds
  • Effects

When a part is missing

Stems only contain what the track actually has. A piano ballad has no drum part to separate, so that stem comes back empty or is left out. For a simple vocal and instrumental pair, use the vocal remover, which runs a two-stem split instead of the full one.

Which tracks can be split

The splitter works on tracks in your AI Song Generator library: songs and instrumentals you generated, and versions you made with extend, cover, replace section and the other Studio tools. It does not accept arbitrary uploaded songs.

What to do with stems

Stems turn a finished mix back into parts you can work with:

  • Rebalance: bring the vocal up or the drums down in a DAW
  • Remix: keep the vocal and replace the production
  • Edit for video: mute the vocal under dialogue and keep the groove
  • Practice: mute your own instrument and play along
  • Reuse: lift a bass line or a drum pattern from your track into a new one

Separation quality

Separation is an estimate of how the parts were layered, so expect some bleed: a little hi-hat in the vocal stem, a reverb tail in the keys. Dense mixes and instruments that share a range, such as guitars and synth pads, are the hardest to pull apart cleanly. The stems are good for editing, remixing and practice; for detailed mixing they may need cleanup.

Plans, MIDI and single-instrument extraction

The two-stem split is included from the Creator plan and the multi-stem split from Pro; a multi-stem split also costs more credits than a two-stem split (see pricing). Two Pro tools build on stems: converting a stem (piano, bass, guitar and so on) to MIDI for your DAW, and extracting one chosen instrument instead of running a full split.

What you get

  • Up to 12 stem MP3s per split
  • WAV export of the full mix
  • MIDI from a chosen stem (Pro)

Starting points you can paste into Create and adjust. Specific details — tempo, instruments, mood, structure — give the most control.

  1. Funk with clean partsInstrumental

Funk track with clearly separated parts that I want to remix later

Stylefunk, tight dry drums, slap bass, clean rhythm guitar, horn section, minimal reverb

Dry, sparse arrangements separate more cleanly.

    Use in the Studio
  2. Vocal-forward popAuto lyrics

Pop song with a front-and-center vocal I can extract afterwards

Stylepop, simple drums, piano, bass, upfront dry female vocal

    Use in the Studio
  3. Classic rock bandInstrumental

Rock band arrangement with distinct guitar, bass and drums

Styleclassic rock, two guitars panned apart, round bass, live drums

    Use in the Studio
  4. Orchestral sectionsInstrumental

Orchestral cue with strings, brass and woodwinds in separate roles

Styleorchestral, strings carry chords, brass melody, woodwind countermelody, timpani

Giving each section its own job helps the split.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can I split any song?
The splitter works on tracks in your AI Song Generator library, including versions made with other Studio tools. It does not take arbitrary uploaded songs.
How many stems do I get?
Up to 12, depending on what the track contains. Parts that are not present come back empty or are left out.
What format are the stems?
MP3. Export the full mix as WAV separately if you need an uncompressed file.
Are the stems perfectly clean?
Not always. Expect some bleed between parts, especially in dense mixes. They work well for editing, remixing and practice.
Can I convert a stem to MIDI?
Yes, on the Pro plan. Split the track first, then pick the stem to convert, such as piano or bass, and download a MIDI file for your DAW.
Can I split a cover, remix or mashup?
Yes. Any track or version in your library can be split, including covers, remixes, extensions and mashups you made in the Studio.
How do I extract vocals from a song?
For a song in your AI Song Generator library, run the vocal remover for a two-stem split, or a multi-stem split if you also want drums, bass and other parts, and download the vocal stem as an MP3. Expect a little bleed from cymbals or reverb in dense mixes. The splitter does not accept songs from outside your library, so for a recording made elsewhere, the cleanest vocal is the original multitrack from whoever recorded it. Only separate vocals from songs you have the rights to use.
Can I get stems from a song I made in another AI music app?
Not with this tool, because it only splits tracks in your AI Song Generator library. Check the other app's own download options first: some offer stems directly, and their terms decide what you may do with them. You can upload a recording you own to the cover generator to restyle it here, but that creates a new version rather than stems of the original file.
