What changed at Udio
Udio's help center says downloading of audio, video and stems has been disabled, in an article dated February 17, 2026 that ties the change to Udio's October 29, 2025 partnership with Universal Music Group. The terms of service, last revised November 12, 2025, go further: users may not download copies of any Output or distribute it to personal devices or to streaming and user-generated content platforms. Sharing a hyperlink on an approved service may be permitted.
Udio has announced a new licensed platform with Universal Music Group, but its official blog gives no launch date, so we cannot tell you when or whether these rules will change.
Udio pricing and credits in 2026
Udio still sells subscriptions. As of October 15, 2026, Standard costs $10/month billed monthly or $8/month billed annually ($96 per year), and Pro costs $30/month billed monthly or $24/month billed annually ($288 per year). The pricing page also lists GBP and EUR prices, a Standard free trial and student pricing.
Standard includes 2,400 credits a month and Pro 6,000, with no rollovers. Udio says one credit corresponds to a track of about 30 seconds and each generation makes two tracks; the two-minute udio130 model costs more. Extra credits cost $3.00 for 100 or $25.00 for 1,000, and purchased credits never expire.
The free plan needs no credit card and gives 10 credits a day and 100 a month, up to three full-length (2:10) generations a day. Free users can remix and extend.
Who owns Udio output, and what you may do with it
Udio terms state that the company, its affiliates or licensors own and will continue to own both the service and the Output. They prohibit using any Output, including other users' output, for a commercial purpose: Output may be used solely for personal, non-commercial purposes. Udio does not claim ownership of content you upload yourself.
In practice that means a paid Udio plan today buys you more generations to listen to inside Udio, not songs you can release, monetize or put in a client project.
How AI Song Generator handles files and rights
AI Song Generator is built around getting finished files out of the product. Each track in your library can be downloaded as MP3, converted to WAV, split into stems or stripped of its vocals. You can also turn a track into a lyric video or visualizer in the music video Studio.
Commercial use on AI Song Generator depends on your plan, our Terms, the inputs you supply and applicable law. We do not grant ownership and we do not say any output is cleared for every use. The AI music copyright guide covers what to check before releasing a song.
- Creator: $9.99/month or $99/year, 800 credits a month.
- Pro: $19.99/month or $199/year, 1,800 credits a month.
- Studio: $39.99/month or $399/year, 3,750 credits a month.
- Credits refresh monthly on every plan; a standard song request costs about 20 credits and can return more than one variation.
When Udio may still be the better fit
If you only want to make music for your own listening and share links, Udio may still suit you. Its free plan costs nothing and needs no card, and the plan comparison lists Styles with musical references, premium Artist Styles, blending and reducing styles, editing music and lyrics, a Voices library and audio uploads, several of them on paid plans only. Udio's changelog lists an iOS app released on May 21, 2025.
We did not find an official public API statement from Udio, and the official pages we read do not mention an Android app.
Starting again on AI Song Generator
Because Udio's terms bar downloading Output, there is no supported way to carry Udio audio over to another service, and we do not recommend download tools that work around those terms. What you can take with you is your own writing: lyrics you wrote are your content, and they can go into AI Song Generator Custom mode, which accepts up to 5,000 characters plus a style line.
Describe the sound you were after in plain words, generate a few versions, then use extend or replace section to shape the one you like. We do not publish audio-quality rankings, and AI Song Generator uses third-party music generation models, so listen to the results yourself before you decide.
