What Suno offers today

Suno sells a free plan and two paid subscriptions, Pro and Premier. It runs on the web at suno.com, and its help center describes a mobile app in limited release on iOS and Android. Paying subscribers get the v6 and v6-wild models, while free users get v6-mini.

Suno's plan comparison lists a wide editing toolkit: extend, cover and speed changes, crop and fade, replacing or adding a section, stem extraction, adding vocals or instrumentals, personas and custom models. Suno Studio, which the pricing page says now includes MIDI, effects and automation, is reserved for Premier. The pricing page does not state a maximum song length, but the help center says one generation can run up to 8 minutes.

How Suno works: modes, extend, covers, personas and stems

Every song starts at suno.com/create. Simple mode takes a one-line description of the song; Custom mode adds a lyrics field, a style input and the Creative Sliders. Each generation returns two songs for 10 credits and can run up to 8 minutes on v6, v6-wild or v6-mini. The plan comparison also lists crop and fade, for cutting a song to size, and replacing or adding a section. The v6 FAQ says you can change one section of a song in plain language, which is the documented route when one vocal line or passage needs fixing.

To extend a song, open its menu, choose Remix/Edit, then Extend, and pick where the new section starts. Extend adds music to the end of the track, and Get Whole Song stitches the extension onto the original so the two parts become one track. Cover, which the help center labels Beta, makes a new version of a song you created in a new style. It is for Pro and Premier users and works only on your own songs. Remixes of other users' songs are personal and non-commercial on every tier. For songs made with Voices, other people can remix or cover them only if the owner publishes or shares them and allows remixing; the help pages we read do not show where that permission setting sits.

Upload Audio turns a recorded or imported sound, such as chords you played yourself, into music, and you must confirm that you own the material before continuing. The help article gives clip lengths of 6 to 60 seconds, or up to 120 seconds on Pro and Premier, while the current pricing page lists uploads of up to 8 minutes on the free plan, so that article may be out of date.

Personas save the essence of a song, its vocals and style, so you can reuse it in new songs. You make one from the song's More Actions menu under Create, then Make Persona, and choose it in Custom mode above the lyrics field. Personas are public by default and can be made private. This is the documented way to keep the same singer across several songs; to change the singer, pick another persona or describe a different vocal style in the style input. The help pages do not state which plans include Personas.

Get Stems is for Pro and Premier subscribers. Auto Split separates a song into up to 12 stems for 50 credits. Split from Mix extracts one instrument or the vocal plus a complement track for 10 credits per stem, which is how you would get an instrumental beat or an acapella from a finished song. Advanced Split, for Premier only, lets you choose from nearly 100 instruments at 10 credits per stem. The free plan has no stem separation, and stem files do not count as extra downloads.

Suno Studio: what it does, what it needs and what it costs

Suno Studio 2.0 is a browser-based production environment, a DAW, with automation, effects, MIDI, a wavetable synth and custom plugin design. The help center says it is for Premier subscribers, and songs created in Studio can be downloaded as MIDI on Premier. It is the part of Suno for working on a song in detail rather than generating a new take each time.

Suno does not publish a processing power figure, but it does list requirements. Studio runs in the browser on a desktop, laptop or tablet with a screen at least 768px wide, and mobile devices are not supported. You need a CPU with SIMD support (SSE4.1 or Neon) and at least 4GB of RAM. Google Chrome is recommended, and Web MIDI, the browser feature for connecting MIDI devices such as keyboards, does not work in Safari. Suno does not list specific MIDI keyboards.

Because Studio is only on Premier, it costs $30/month billed monthly or $24/month billed annually, as of October 15, 2026; the pricing page shows no separate Studio price. Whether it is worth it depends on how you work. If you want MIDI, effects and automation in the same place you generate songs, Premier is the plan that includes them. If you mostly export parts into your own DAW, the stems on Pro may cover what you need, so check your workflow before upgrading.

Suno pricing next to AI Song Generator pricing

As of October 15, 2026, Suno Pro costs $10/month billed monthly or $8/month billed annually, and Premier costs $30/month billed monthly or $24/month billed annually, with taxes calculated at checkout. Pro includes 2,500 credits and 20 song downloads per month; Premier includes 10,000 credits and 60 song downloads per month. Subscription credits do not carry over, and subscribers who run out get 50 bonus credits per day until renewal.

AI Song Generator has three monthly plans and a weekly plan. Higher plans add credits and tools: editing and vocal removal from Creator, multi-stem splits, MIDI and AI music video from Pro, and your own singer voice from Studio. The pricing page lists every tool by plan.

  • Creator: $9.99/month or $99/year, 800 credits a month.
  • Pro: $19.99/month or $199/year, 1,800 credits a month.
  • Studio: $39.99/month or $399/year, 3,750 credits a month.
  • Credits refresh every month, annual plans included. A standard song request costs about 20 credits and can return more than one variation.

Why credit counts do not compare directly

A Suno credit and an AI Song Generator credit are different units, priced against different actions, so 2,500 is not automatically more music than 800. The fairer test is to price the work you actually do: how many songs you start in a month, how many you extend or edit, and how many you need to download. On Suno, the download allocation matters as much as the credits, because Suno's terms tie commercial use to it.

On AI Song Generator, every action shows its credit cost before you confirm it, and failed jobs are refunded automatically, so you can see what a session will cost while you are still planning it.

Commercial use, ownership and download formats

Suno's pricing FAQ says free plans do not include commercial rights and that Pro and Premier songs can be used commercially. Its terms add a condition: paid users may commercially exploit Output only if it was obtained as a permitted Download within their tier's monthly download allocation. Remixes of other users' songs are personal and non-commercial on every tier. For Pro and Premier subscribers, Suno assigns its right, title and interest in Output to the user, while stating that it makes no warranty that copyright will vest.

Suno's help center lists MP3 downloads on all plans, WAV for Pro and Premier on suno.com, video downloads, individual stem files when stems exist, and MIDI for Suno Studio songs on Premier.

AI Song Generator gives you MP3 downloads, WAV conversion, stem splitting and vocal removal for tracks in your library. What you may do with a track commercially depends on your plan, our Terms, what you put in and the law where you are. We do not claim to grant ownership or to clear outputs; our AI music copyright guide explains the open questions.

Where Suno may suit you better

Suno is a strong choice in several situations, and we would rather you pick the right tool than the wrong one.

  • You want to try AI song generation at no cost: Suno has a free plan and AI Song Generator does not.
  • You want an app on your phone: Suno lists a mobile app in limited release.
  • You want MIDI and a DAW-style editor in the same product, which Suno offers through Suno Studio on Premier.
  • You are a developer: Suno runs platform.suno.com, although that page does not state availability, access rules or pricing.
  • You want custom models or Suno Studio, which AI Song Generator does not offer.

Where AI Song Generator may suit you better

We do not publish audio-quality rankings, and AI Song Generator runs on third-party music generation models, so we do not claim our songs sound better. The differences we can stand behind are about how the product works.

  • Editing from the first monthly plan: extend, replace section, cover and remix, add vocals, add instrumental, vocal removal and WAV are on Creator, not held back for a top tier.
  • Custom mode accepts your own lyrics up to 5,000 characters plus a style line, and a lyrics generator helps when you are stuck.
  • Upload a song you own and restyle it.
  • A music video Studio sits next to your songs: lyric videos and visualizers from the Creator plan, AI scene videos from the Pro plan.
  • Tracks are private by default; publishing is opt-in and reviewed.

Moving from Suno to AI Song Generator

Before you cancel anything, download the Suno songs you are entitled to download, and keep a copy of any lyrics you wrote. Lyrics you wrote yourself can go straight into Custom mode. Rewrite style descriptions in your own words rather than copying another service's tags.

If you plan to upload a Suno song to restyle it, check first that you hold the rights to it under Suno's terms; on AI Song Generator you should only upload songs you own or are licensed to use. Then generate the same idea in both tools and listen side by side. That comparison will tell you more than any table.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is Suno?
Suno is an AI music generator at suno.com that turns a text prompt into a song. Suno, Inc. describes itself as a music company building a creative entertainment platform, and its homepage headline is "Make any song you can imagine". You can start from a simple prompt or use its editing tools, such as extend, cover, stems and the Suno Studio editor. It runs on the web, and its help center describes a mobile app, Suno- AI Songs & Music Maker, in limited release on iOS and Android. It is generative AI: songs come from Suno's own models, currently v6, v6-wild and v6-mini.
Is Suno free?
Suno has a free plan at $0/month with up to 50 credits a day, refreshed on UTC time, and the v6-mini model, as of October 15, 2026. A generation costs 10 credits and returns two songs, so that is about five generations a day. The free plan lists no monthly song downloads, no commercial rights, no add-on credit purchases and no stem separation, and free-plan songs cannot be monetized even if you subscribe later. Suno's pages do not describe a way to get Pro without paying. AI Song Generator has no free plan.
How much does Suno cost?
As of October 15, 2026, Suno Pro is $10/month billed monthly or $8/month billed annually, and Premier is $30/month billed monthly or $24/month billed annually, with taxes calculated at checkout. Billing yearly saves $24 on Pro and $72 on Premier, the only discount the pricing page lists. Pro includes 2,500 credits and 20 song downloads a month; Premier includes 10,000 credits and 60 downloads. Suno Studio comes only with Premier. Prices may differ by region, tax and promotions.
What is Suno Premier, and how is it different from Pro?
Premier is Suno's top subscription: $30/month, or $24/month billed annually, as of October 15, 2026. Compared with Pro at $10/month, it includes 10,000 credits instead of 2,500 and 60 song downloads a month instead of 20. Premier is the only plan with Suno Studio, MIDI downloads for Studio songs, Advanced Split stems that let you pick from nearly 100 instruments, and three stem separation types instead of two. Both plans get the v6 and v6-wild models, WAV downloads on suno.com and commercial use of permitted downloads.
How does Suno work?
Go to suno.com/create and pick a mode. In Simple mode you describe the song in a sentence, for example a synth pop song about having fun all night, and a dice button suggests a random prompt. Custom mode adds more fields, including a space for your own lyrics, a style input and the Creative Sliders. Each generation makes two songs for 10 credits and can run up to 8 minutes. You can then extend, cover, edit or split the result, as the section above explains. Official how-to articles live at help.suno.com; Discord and Reddit threads are community advice, not official guidance.
What AI model does Suno use, and what is it trained on?
Suno uses its own models. As of October 15, 2026, free users get v6-mini, and Pro and Premier also get v6 and v6-wild. Suno's v6 FAQ says v6 was developed with artists and producers, including partners WMG and BMG. The pages we read do not mention ChatGPT and do not publish a full list of training data. They do say Suno chose not to use artist names in its training metadata, and the privacy notice says content users submit may be used to train and improve its models, with no opt-out from that training listed.
What do Weirdness and Style Influence mean in Suno?
They are Creative Sliders in Custom mode. Weirdness runs from Safe to Chaos, and Suno says 50% gives the normal, expected result, so higher settings push toward less predictable songs. Style Influence sets how closely the song follows your style input, from Loose to Strong. If you upload audio, a third slider appears for it, Audio Influence. Suno's help articles do not say which plans include the sliders. The easiest way to learn them is to keep one prompt and move one slider at a time.
Who owns Suno?
Suno is run by Suno, Inc., the company named in its terms. Mikey Shulman signs Suno's official blog as Co-Founder and CEO; the about page does not name the other founders. Suno says it has raised over $775M from investors including Bond Capital, Menlo Ventures, Lightspeed, IVP, Matrix, Union Square Ventures and NVentures, NVIDIA's venture arm. It describes itself as a music company with 250+ team members, and says over two thirds of the team are musicians.
When was Suno founded, and where is it based?
Suno's about page says the company was founded in 2022. It gives no launch date for the product, so we cannot confirm when the app first came out. The about page mentions 4 offices without naming them; the only address on official pages is the legal one in the terms, Suno, Inc., 17 Dunster Street, Cambridge, MA, with the terms governed by Massachusetts law. The same page says 100M+ people have made music on Suno, without a breakdown by profession, such as game composers.
Is Suno publicly traded?
No official Suno page says that Suno is publicly traded. The about page describes only venture funding: over $775M raised from investors such as Bond Capital, Menlo Ventures and Lightspeed. Suno's pages do not publish revenue or profit figures, so we cannot say whether it is profitable, and they do not describe any way for the public to buy shares. We are not financial advisors; treat any offer of Suno shares with care and check it with a licensed professional.
Does Suno own your music?
It depends on your plan. Suno's terms, last revised August 10, 2026, say that for Pro and Premier subscribers Suno assigns to the user all of its right, title and interest in Output, still subject to the commercial use rules. Free or basic tier Outputs may only be used for lawful, personal and non-commercial purposes. On every plan the terms license your Submissions and Output to Suno, including for improving its models, and remixes of other users' songs stay non-commercial. Suno makes no warranty that copyright will vest in any Output.
Can you copyright Suno songs, and are they royalty free?
Suno does not promise copyright. Its terms say it makes no warranty that copyright will vest in any Output, even when it assigns its rights to Pro and Premier subscribers. Whether an AI-assisted song can be registered depends on the law where you live and on what you contributed, such as your own lyrics, so ask your national copyright office or a lawyer. The Suno pages we read do not call songs royalty free: paid plans allow commercial use of permitted downloads, free-plan songs are non-commercial, and nothing is cleared for any use you like.
Can I use Suno songs commercially?
On Pro and Premier, Suno's terms allow commercial use of Output obtained as a permitted download within your tier's monthly allocation: 20 downloads on Pro and 60 on Premier. If you want to sell songs or beats, they need to fall inside that rule. Free plan songs are personal and non-commercial only, and subscribing later does not license them retroactively. Remixes of other users' songs are non-commercial on every tier, and you must hold the rights to anything you add, lyrics included.
Can I use Suno music on YouTube or Spotify?
Suno's help center says songs made while subscribed to Pro or Premier have commercial use rights: you can send them to Spotify, Apple Music and other stores through any distributor without crediting Suno, and use them in YouTube and TikTok content. Free-plan songs are non-commercial, cannot be monetized and are not licensed retroactively if you subscribe later. You must hold 100% of the rights, including lyrics. The article does not mention YouTube Content ID. In August 2026 Suno said it plans a policy limiting mass distribution to streaming platforms, so check the current rules before a large release.
Can you make money with Suno?
Suno's terms let Pro and Premier users commercially exploit songs obtained as permitted downloads, and its help center says those songs can go to streaming stores through a distributor or into monetized YouTube and TikTok content. Free-plan songs cannot be monetized. Suno makes no promise about earnings and neither do we: income depends on each platform's rules, your audience and whether you hold every right, including lyrics. Suno has also said it plans to limit mass distribution of songs to streaming platforms, so bulk uploading is not a plan to rely on.
Is Suno safe and legit?
Suno is run by Suno, Inc., a venture-funded company that says 100M+ people have made music on it. Its privacy notice, last modified June 23, 2026, says "We do not sell your information to third parties", lets you ask for your information to be deleted with some exceptions, and lists [email protected]. It also says content you submit may be used to train its models, with no training opt-out listed, and voice features may create biometric data kept up to three years after your last interaction. Read those terms before uploading anything personal, and use suno.com or the official app store listings.
Is Suno legal and ethical?
We give facts rather than a verdict. Suno says it blocks prompts with well-known artists' names or copyrighted terms, runs automated checks that block material resembling existing recordings, screens uploads and lyrics with third-party providers, and follows DMCA guidelines when a rights owner flags a song. Moderation can block a generation, ask for a song to be switched to Link Only or remove material without warning. Its v6 model was developed with partners including WMG and BMG, and in August 2026 Suno announced watermarking plans. The pages we read publish no energy or water figures, and we make no prediction about musicians' jobs.
Does Suno have an API?
Suno operates platform.suno.com, which describes a REST API for its music generation engine behind a sign-in. The page does not say whether the API is publicly available, who can get access or what it costs. AI Song Generator does not offer a public developer API.
How do I get Suno to use my voice?
Use Suno's Voices feature. You can take a voice from a song in your library, record in real time with your microphone, or upload a file of 15 seconds to 4 minutes, where acapella works best, then pick the best 2 minutes. To verify it is you, you read a displayed phrase aloud. Voices is for users 18 and older, may not be available everywhere, and only you can create with your voice. The Voices FAQ says to select model v5.5. Suno says voice data may count as biometric data and is used to train its models. Its pages do not say which plan Voices requires.
How do you download songs from Suno?
On suno.com, go to your Library or Workspace, open the song's More Actions (...) menu, choose Download and pick MP3, WAV or video. For several songs, Ctrl/Command or Shift select them, right-click, choose Download All and pick a file type; they arrive as one ZIP file. MP3 works on all plans, WAV is for Pro and Premier on the web, and stems do not count as extra downloads. Suno's help pages give no step-by-step phone instructions and say only that mobile downloads default to MP3. Only permitted downloads on paid plans can be used commercially.
Can Suno make music videos?
Suno does not document an AI music video generator. You can download any song as a video file, and Hooks combines your music with a video you upload from your device into short-form content for the Suno community, so the footage, and any change to it, comes from you. Suno Scenes, announced in October 2024 and first on iOS, makes a song from photos or videos you capture; it makes a song, not a video. If you want lyric videos or visualizers built around your track, AI Song Generator has a music video Studio next to your songs.
How do Suno credits work?
Free accounts get up to 50 credits a day, refreshed on UTC time. Pro gets 2,500 and Premier 10,000 credits a month, refreshed on your purchase date, and they do not carry over. A standard generation costs 10 credits for two songs; stems cost more, for example 50 credits for Auto Split. Subscribers can buy extra credits at suno.com/account under Buy More Credits; those do not expire but only work while you are subscribed. Subscribers who run out get 50 daily credits until renewal, and Suno offers make-up credits after significant outages.
How do you cancel Suno, get a refund or delete your account?
On the web, go to suno.com/account, choose Cancel Subscription and confirm. If you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play, cancel with Apple or Google: on iOS under Settings, your name, Subscriptions; on Android under Google Account, Payments & subscriptions. Suno says payments are final and non-refundable unless it decides otherwise, and cases like an accidental yearly purchase are handled one by one through [email protected]. To delete your account in the mobile app, tap your profile photo, open Settings, scroll down and tap Delete account. Songs and details cannot be recovered. No desktop steps are documented, so web-only users should ask [email protected].
How do you contact Suno support?
Suno's only official support contact is [email protected], and billing requests go to [email protected]. The help center at help.suno.com is the self-help starting point, and privacy requests go to [email protected]. Suno's Discord is a community resource, not official support. The help pages we read do not cover Discord bots, an affiliate program, username claims or restoring deleted songs, so ask [email protected] about those directly. Keep in mind that a deleted account cannot be recovered.
Is Suno down, or why is it not working?
We could not find an official Suno status page: none is linked from its help center, and status.suno.com did not resolve when we checked on October 15, 2026. If Suno is not working, look at help.suno.com and email [email protected] with what you saw. If one prompt fails while the site works, moderation may be the reason, since Suno can block a generation that includes a well-known artist's name, copyrighted terms or excessive profanity. When an outage or broken feature causes significant downtime, Suno says it offers make-up credits that carry over to the next month.
Is Suno open source?
No. Suno's terms describe the Service's own technology as Suno's property, and the company behind it is Suno, Inc. Its official GitHub organization, github.com/suno-ai, does publish Bark, a transformer-based text-to-audio model under the MIT License, last updated in its README on 2023.05.01. That README points anyone looking for Suno's text-to-music models to Suno's website, so Bark is a separate research release, not the model behind Suno songs.
Is Suno the best AI music generator?
We do not rank audio quality, so we will not call Suno the best or the worst, and we do not claim AI Song Generator sounds better. Taste depends on genre and on the song you have in mind. The fairest test is to write one prompt, run it a few times in each tool you are considering, such as Suno, Udio, Mureka or AI Song Generator, and listen without looking at the labels. Then compare what you can verify: monthly price, download limits, commercial terms and editing tools. Suno has a free plan, so you can try it at no cost.
How do you write good prompts for Suno?
Suno documents building blocks, not formulas. Simple mode takes a one-sentence description, so name the genre, mood and subject. Custom mode adds your own lyrics, a style input and sliders: Style Influence sets how closely Suno follows the style, Weirdness how far it strays. Names of well-known artists and copyrighted terms can block a song, so describe the sound you want instead of naming a singer. The help pages we read publish no tag lists, style length limits, saved-prompt library or tricks for effects like rolled r's or louder choruses, so change one thing at a time and compare.
Can Suno make sheet music, lyrics or songs in other languages?
Some of this is documented and some is not. Suno does not describe sheet music or lead sheets; the closest is MIDI download for songs made in Suno Studio, on Premier. Custom mode lets you enter your own lyrics, and Simple mode builds a song from a description. Advanced Split stems let Premier users pick from nearly 100 instruments. The pages we read do not list supported languages, accents, spoken-word modes, sound effects or Dolby Atmos and spatial audio output, and moderation can block excessive profanity. The free plan's daily credits are a cheap way to test a language or style.
Can you bypass Suno's copyright filter or remove its watermark?
We will not help with that. Suno blocks prompts with well-known artists' names or copyrighted terms, checks lyrics and uploads for material resembling existing work, and attaches Content Credentials, a machine-readable label that travels with the file. Its terms reserve the right to add a fingerprint, watermark or metadata and forbid removing, altering, obscuring or circumventing them, so trying may breach Suno's terms and get material removed. Legitimate paths: write original lyrics, describe a style instead of naming an artist and upload only audio you own. To check a file, Suno offers a tool that reads Content Credentials.
