AI lyrics generator for song lyrics you can edit

The AI Song Generator lyrics generator drafts song lyrics from a short brief: a theme, a mood or a story in up to 200 characters. It works as a song lyric generator for any genre and returns structured drafts with labeled sections that you can edit and then sing in Custom mode.

Steps

How it works

  1. Write a brief

Situation, feeling and one detail, within 200 characters.

  2. Generate drafts

Compare the drafts for hooks, opening lines and images.

  3. Edit

Combine the best parts and rewrite the lines in your own voice.

  4. Sing it

Paste the final lyric into Custom mode and generate the song.

Writing a 200-character brief

The brief is short on purpose, so every word has to earn its place. Lead with the situation, then the feeling, then one concrete detail. "Night bus home after losing a job, numb then hopeful, the driver hums along to the radio" fits easily and gives the generator a scene, an arc and an image.

  • Situation first: where we are and what just happened
  • The feeling, and how it changes
  • One specific image or object
  • Optional: the genre or the audience, such as "for a kids' choir"

Reading the drafts

A request can return more than one draft, each with section labels such as [Verse] and [Chorus]. Read them for one thing at a time: the strongest hook, the best opening line, the most specific image. A finished lyric often takes the chorus from one draft and a verse from another.

Editing a draft into your lyric

Generated lyrics can lean on familiar rhymes and safe images. Treat them as a draft from a fast collaborator, not as finished text.

  • Replace general words with specific ones: "car" becomes "the rusted hatchback".
  • Cut any line you would not say out loud.
  • Keep the chorus shorter than the verses.
  • Check that the last verse adds something new instead of repeating the first.

Lyrics for any genre

Name the genre in the brief and the drafts follow its habits. A country brief brings story verses and a plain-spoken chorus, a metal brief darker images and shorter, harder lines, a pop brief a hook that repeats. For rap verses with bars, flow and punchlines, the AI rap generator covers the rhythm side in detail.

From lyrics to a sung song

When the lyric is ready, open Create in Custom mode, paste it, add a style line and set the length. The words are sung as written, and you can keep editing between versions until every line sits right.

What it does not do

This tool writes new lyrics. It does not transcribe lyrics from a recording, and it does not look up lyrics of existing songs. Briefs that name real artists may be rejected, so describe the style or the era instead.

What you get

  • Editable lyric drafts with section labels
  • Copy-ready text for Custom mode

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How long can the brief be?
Up to 200 characters. Short briefs work best when they include a situation, a feeling and one specific detail.
Does it generate music too?
No, it writes lyrics only. Paste the lyric you like into Custom mode to generate the song, or use the AI songwriter flow to go from brief to song in one place.
Can it write lyrics from a song or an audio file?
No. It writes new lyrics from text. Transcribing lyrics from a recording is a different job, and it is not offered today.
Can I use the lyrics commercially?
That depends on your plan and the Terms and on applicable law. Drafts can echo common phrases, so rewrite them in your own words before you publish or register anything.
Why was my brief rejected?
Briefs that are flagged by moderation or that name real artists can be rejected. Describe the style, era or mood instead of a person.
Will the drafts always rhyme?
Usually, and often in familiar patterns. If you want looser rhymes or none at all, say so in the brief, then loosen the drafts further when you edit them.
