AI songwriter: a co-writing workflow from brief to song

The AI Song Generator AI songwriter workflow pairs lyric drafting with song generation, so you can write a song together with the model. You bring the idea and the final say; it drafts lines, sings demos and lets you revise any section.

Steps

How it works

  1. Brief the idea

Generate lyric drafts from a short brief and choose an angle worth developing.

  2. Rewrite in your voice

Edit the lyric, label the sections and tighten the hook.

  3. Demo it

Generate a sung version in Custom mode with your style line and length.

  4. Revise by section

Change the lines that do not sing well and replace only those parts of the track.

Who does what

Co-writing works when the roles are clear. You decide what the song is about, which lines stay and how it should feel. The model drafts lyrics, offers different structures through its drafts, and performs demos so you can judge the song by ear rather than on paper.

A co-writing session in five rounds

Each round has one goal. Moving on only when that goal is met keeps the session from drifting.

  • Round 1, concept: send a brief of up to 200 characters to the lyrics generator and pick the strongest angle from its drafts.
  • Round 2, rewrite: edit the lyric in your own words and keep the hook short.
  • Round 3, demo: generate it in Custom mode with a style line and a length.
  • Round 4, listen: note which lines land and which feel forced once they are sung.
  • Round 5, revise: change the lyric where needed and replace only those sections.

Why hearing it sung changes the writing

Lines that read well on paper sometimes fall apart when sung: too many syllables, the stress on the wrong word, a vowel that is hard to hold on a long note. Generating a sung demo early exposes those problems while they are still cheap to fix. Treat each version as feedback on the lyric, not only as a result.

Keeping it your song

Your choices are what make the song yours: the subject, the edits, the structure and the final words. In places where the law protects human contributions to AI-assisted work, those are the contributions that count. Keep drafts, demos and revisions in one project so the history of the song stays together.

Which writing tool to use

The AI lyrics generator is for drafts only. Lyrics to song is for singing finished words. The songwriter workflow joins the two, with listening and revision in between, for people who want to write a song rather than receive one.

  1. Concept round brief

Brief: a lighthouse switched off for the first time in a hundred years, the keeper's last night, quiet pride

Start the session with a brief like this in the lyrics generator.

    Use in the Studio
  2. Demo roundYour lyrics

My edited lighthouse lyric: two verses, a chorus and a bridge

Styleslow-building indie folk, piano, strings in the bridge, weathered male vocal

Demo the same lyric in a second style to hear whether the song or the arrangement is carrying it.

    Use in the Studio
  3. Roller rink brief

Brief: roller rink on a Friday night, first crush, glitter and terrible snacks, giddy

A playful brief tends to bring back drafts with more energy and internal rhyme.

    Use in the Studio
  4. Revision roundYour lyrics

Rewritten second verse for the roller rink song, sung over the existing track

Styleretro roller disco, funky bass, string stabs, joyful female vocal

Use replace section on the second verse instead of regenerating the whole song.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can AI write a song for me?
It can draft lyrics and perform a song from a short brief. The songwriter workflow is for people who want to stay involved: you choose, edit and revise, while the model drafts and sings.
Will the song sound like a real artist?
Not by design. Describe genre, era, instruments and voice instead of naming artists; voices of real singers are not available.
How many revision rounds can I do?
As many as your credits allow. Each generation or section replacement shows its credit cost before you confirm.
Do I keep my drafts?
Lyric drafts and sung versions stay in your private library. Keep them in a project to follow the song's history from brief to final take.
Can I try the song in another genre?
Yes. Keep the lyric fixed and change only the style line, so you hear which genre suits the song best.
How do I write a song with AI?
Treat the model as a co-writer. Start with a short brief about the story and mood, ask the lyrics generator for drafts, and keep only the lines that sound like you. Generate a sung demo in Custom mode, listen for weak lines and melodies that do not fit, then rewrite those lines and replace just that section. Repeat until every line earns its place. You keep the final say on words and takes, which also keeps more of the song your own work.
